In some ways we are watching a challenging of our constitution, by the far left, the idea that states do not have the right to protect its citizens, is absurd, however that would seem to be what we are watching in both Alabama and Arizona, Amazing stuff.
The Tenth Amendment states the Constitution’s principle of federalism by providing that powers not granted to the federal government nor prohibited to the states by the Constitution are reserved, respectively, to the states or the people.
The argument of the left, is that you don’t have the right to ask for identification if you suspect that someone is in your state illegally, however, we have to have a birth certificate if we want to do anything in this nation.
It is like the camel and the eye of the needle analogy, the liberals seem to think that the constitution does not apply to them because they are so smart.
Amazing Washington seems to have forgotton where they came from
unreal but is it true? Can it be that we are looking at criminal actions.
This just in there is quite a lot of news happening on the computer front, while some are saying that this is unconstitutional use and abuse of power others are saying it is hacking? Who is right, and who is wrong, this was received via email and may or may not represent the opinions of this news company. (alleged news company)
What can we do to keep those that are ignorant of technology from creating laws that threaten our freedom?
It’s been a crazy 24 hours. Former Demand Progress executive director Aaron Swartz was arrested yesterday for allegedly downloading academic research articles from JSTOR.
More than 35,000 people have already signed a letter of support for Aaron. Will you join them by clicking here?
The mainstream coverage of the arrest has turned in Aaron’s favor — and the outpouring of support for him is a key part of the story. Here’s a sampling of the coverage:
BOSTON GLOBE: By yesterday afternoon, however, Swartz had received an outpouring of support from colleagues and friends who took to blogs and websites to defend his work and maintain that the charges against him are heavy-handed. More than 15,000 people had signed a letter of support for Swartz on the website Demand Progress.org
HUFFINGTON POST: JSTOR’s the one that should be in prison, man, for locking up knowledge.
NEW YORK TIMES: A respected Harvard researcher who also is an Internet folk hero has been arrested in Boston on charges related to computer hacking, which are based on allegations that he downloaded articles that he was entitled to get free.
AMERICAN PROSPECT: It’s easy to forget that there’s something at all controversial or oppositional about accessing information, or that some people really, really want data to be free — and others don’t. Open data has been mainstreamed. Whatever hacker-culture roots the free information movement might have are subsumed by the idea that simply everyone agrees that data is meant to be free, and the struggle is over the mechanics of freeing it. That’s never really been true, as Swartz’s case makes plain.
BOSTON GLOBE: [Attorney Jerry] Cohen said the use of criminal charges here is the latest in what has been a government trend to prosecute such cases, which he described as taking “a sledgehammer to drive a thumb tack.’ ‘It might be taking too big a weapon,’’ he said. “It’s intended to terrorize the person who’s indicted and others who might be thinking of the same thing.’
As the case proceeds, we remain hopeful that Aaron will be cleared of any wrongdoing — and as has been proved over the last 24 hours, the more people learn about the case, the more sympathetic they become to Aaron’s cause.
Please show your support for Aaron by clicking here to sign our petition — it will only take a second.
Thanks so much for your support as we navigate these choppy waters.
— The Demand Progress team
P.S. Please make sure your friends are aware of Aaron’s predicament by forwarding them this email or using these links:
Everyone wants that free lunch, you know where you get something for nothing. The sad thing is that it does not exist, there is no free lunch,
Stop looking for the Free Lunch Why do so many people keep chasing the dream.
Stop looking for the Free Lunch
Why do so many people keep chasing the dream.
I know everyone wants the free lunch and why not, it is a concept that is not new in fact it has its roots, as far back as the 1850s Wild West Saloon’s as an advertisement to bring in more drinking customers, many saloons offered free lunch as long as you purchased and consumed alcohol at the bar.
Naturally this was not looked on favorably by the temperance society, an organization formed to reduce the use and consumption of alcoholic beverages, it was widely accepted that the cost of the lunch was actually being paid for in the cost of the drinks that the customers were required to purchase.
Hence the term, there is not such thing as a free lunch.
Advertising is something that has been going on for a long time and the different types of advertising are not likely to change anytime soon, however, due to many of the regulations and rules that effect how people advertise, that may soon be changing.
See our posting on guides published by the FTC
There will always be people who are looking for a short cut, a quick path to get what they want.
When the truth is often right in front of them, yet they do not see because it seems out of reach from the current perspective they have.
Life is full of changes, every day is different, yet many people have a difficult time visualizing how something as simple as perspective can change in as little as 24 hours.
It is because of this tendency to jump from one thing to another, that many people find they have a hard time succeeding online.
When if they would just put a little more effort into what they are doing the perspective would change.
People spend a lot of time running around on the internet looking for that really great thing, that really unbelievable opportunity that just seems too good to be true, they are out there by the millions looking for a free lunch.
There is no free lunch, and deep in their hearts they know it, yet that does not stop them from jumping from internet promise of wealth and riches, to the next great thing to come along, in reality nothing is different, some programs may offer a little different spin on an old thing or some polish on an advertising program, but in the end you are the one paying for the advertising.
Sometimes you have to sort of take a step back and look at the big picture, it is not easy to do for some people can not easily or willingly change the perspective they have in life.
end the internet freedom you enjoy today.
This is not constitutional and must be stopped, this is wrong in every conceivable way you can imagine.
In case your just now hearing this.
Stop this insanity help us challenge this by filing a lawsuit if necessary.
The internet is made up of a number of private and some public servers, but it is not something that can be (taken over) this is wrong and it will be challenged in court.
This is a power grab of UN Godly proportions, folks this is not only evil but it is wrong, watch the stock market sink like a lead balloon.
If you have stock in the NASDAQ, you might consider moving it or liquidating it.
Taking over and regulating, Cable TV, Satellite TV, and now the Internet?
This past week, the FCC has grabbed more power that they have no constitutional authority to regulate.
Lawsuits must be filed by the largest ISPs right away challenging this or else freedom will be lost in this nation.
Lawsuits must be filed to challenge the constitutionality of this power grab, this must not be allowed to take place.
Cable companies need to file lawsuits.
Satellite Companies need to file lawsuits.
Well in some recently rumored, and alleged news, apple is not the only company that can restrict the use of its products to its own piggy banks, apparently microsoft is attempting to make the same type of move in its hardware based products.
Looks like there are some really nasty business afoot, and it looks equally nasty for adobe, so what is going on with all this garbage?
one thing for sure, this is not right and there are going to be legal consequences, if you are a lawyer, the times have never been better for obtaining work, with all the corporate craziness, that seems to be taking hold of these companies, what will be next.
Is this for real, what happened to the great company, is there a worm making its way into the apple we all used to love?
In some frightening rumor news, it has been alleged that apple is making an offer on ARM holdings, in an apparent attempt to corner the market on mobile technologies, in the form of processors, now if this happens, apple could say,
“Oh android, were you planning on using our chipsets in your products?”
So say this could be the beginning of a huge anti-trust suit, and they could be right, what a mess, and when you think about it, are you not glad that you dumped your apple stock last week, (opps you didnt) well hmm, ok moving on…
Apple could take control over a huge part of the market by acquiring this company and many people think that it would not only be a bad move but might lead to some very nasty business.
The very idea that apple is apparently and allegedly considering this move, is scary in the least, and at the worst, out right unfair.
So what is going on in the corporate world, cant we all just get along?
perhaps, well know more about it soon, but all this fighting between corporations, is a bit unflattering, and unsavory to apple customers, who are used to things just working, not all this bickering and legal spookiness.
What happened to the greatness of a company that used to be full of dreams, but now allegedly seems to be lost.
Well, perhaps, but did apple really win? I mean if adobe puts its marketing weight into say a competitor product…
Then, how much will apple actually win? hmmm kind of makes you think, what were they thinking…
Literally there are thousands and thousands of developers, that were allegedly shafted by apple and its war with adobe.
some expect stock to take a ride on this news, but who knows for sure when it come to the market?
When the dust settles, will adobe win?
Well, looks like adobe, makes a big dent in the apple, or should we say bite, with the new CS5 debut.
Anyone care to take a side, this one is going to be a hot time in the old town tonight…
With developers, on one side, customers on the other and adobe stuck in a no room but to fight situation “allegedly”
We have a really bad situation for the apple stock holders, makes you want to ask who’s bright idea was this crap anyway.
I am thinking about returning my ipad, mostly because I feel like I was sand bagged, by apple, I mean I buy this product, and a few days, later, I find, that apple has given me and adobe the finger, really that is crazy but that is what they did, so why should I keep the pile of junk that my ipad has now become, because now it is worthless, (allegedly)
There are a fair few people who are not only miffed but really angry, again allegedly, one guy said he was going to replace his recently purchased apple computers, with microsoft, shhh, he was really mad, but hey it could really back fire on apple, but one thing I just really want to know here is who,
Who, was responsible for this evil,
for instance today I am using bing, when before I did not use them, hmmm, perhaps microsoft is not as evil as we thought.
Is adobe getting ready to sue apple, and if so, would they have a case, well yes and no, is apple wrong in what they are doing?
Yes, they are morally wrong, and in the long run they will pay for this attitude.
They will pay with the price of the stock.
They will pay with customers who will stop using apple products.
They will pay, and they will pay, and they will pay.
The real question here is why?
Why, would apple do this do they really think they are all that?
For one thing, I am now, so disappointed, in apple that I do not feel like buying more apple products.
It has created in me an attitude of sorry, but you crossed the line.
I have been a loyal mac fan for many many years, but this is something that really is so un Mac like, that it is just hard to believe that they want to act like this, on this one I hope adobe really sticks it to apple.
Naturally, this is just a thought here and has no basis in reality, we speak from a what if perspective and so we represent nothing here as fact at all. The thing of interest here is that what if, apple knew they were going to ban flash and other developers from using the ipad, I know I myself would not,
have bought an ipad, if I had known in advance that apple planned on changing its license and terms of use, it sort of is a silly thing really but I now have this really cool gadget, that is just sitting on the shelf because I cant use it.
Many developers, are feeling somewhat slighted with this heavy handed, stuff from apple.
One thing for sure, there may be some problems…
In the very near future in regard to this type of silly behavior, (allegedly)
